The Department of Food Services provides breakfast and lunch to the students of Barstow Unified School District. While running a central kitchen at its present location, the department is responsible for the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, student a la carte program, and a catering program. One of the department’s principle roles is to provide meals to students in compliance with nutritional standards as established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and monitored by the California Department of Education. This operation is a self supporting program.

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation.
