What is CAASPP ?

On January 1, 2014, the CAASPP System was established. The primary purpose of the CAASPP System is to assist teachers, administrators, students, and parents by promoting high-quality teaching and learning through the use of a variety of assessment approaches and item types.

Currently CAASPP assessments consist of:

  • Grades 3-8 & 11 for English Language Arts & Math
  • Grades 5, 8 & HS for Science

    Student Score Reports are available in the Infinite Campus Parent / Student Portals when published by the State of California.

    Score Report Information

    • All eligible students receive a student score report (SSR) regardless of whether they were tested. Only students who were exempted by the parent or guardian will not get an SSR.
    • Students who were not tested due to a Medical Emergency will receive an SSR that indicates “not tested”.
    • Students who receive a Parent Guardian Exemption (PGE) and do not take any tests will not receive an SSR.
    • Students who receive a PGE for one test, but not all, will receive an SSR. For example, if a student tests for ELA but is exempt in mathematics, they will receive an ELA SSR with their score and a mathematics SSR that states “not tested”.
    • Each student who took the Smarter Balanced assessments will have an optional report available that provides the student's Lexile® and Quantile® measures.

     

    Condition Code Descriptions

    A special condition code indicates the presence of a particular circumstance during testing. Only one condition code can be applied per student’s content-area assessment.

    The Parent Guides to Understanding are two-page flyers written in easy-to-understand language that answer key questions (what, why, who, how, and when) about California's assessment programs. Information is also included about how parents can support their student's success.
